Compulsive Sexual Behaviour Diploma Lead Tutor
Rachel is a BACP registered psychotherapist, working with couples and individuals. She completed her training at Tavistock Relationships. Rachel was a part of the first cohort of therapists undertaking studies on the CICS Diploma in Compulsive Sexual Behaviour in 2020. This was the catalyst and inspiration for her work in this area with clients in private practice. She has a particular interest in attachment and compulsive sexual behaviours, and also the impact of work identities and career stress on relationships.
Rachel started her career as a librarian, undertaking postgraduate studies in the history of printing, book binding and rare books at Leeds University. Informed by her experiences working in a diverse range of organisations, including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Greater London Authority, Rachel developed an interest in the psychology of work, and returned to postgraduate studies at Birkbeck, completing an MSc in Career Management Counselling. The integration of counselling and career theory and organisational psychology has underpinned Rachel’s work within the higher education sector since then.
In addition to her practice as a psychotherapist Rachel has worked at the London School of Economics since 2017. Her current role at LSE includes teaching and coaching MSc students based in LSE’s Departments of Health Policy and Gender. Rachel has a passion for teaching and learning, and prior to joining LSE worked at Imperial College London, where she secured Fellowship status of the Higher Education Academy.
Since 2021 Rachel has worked with the charity Breast Cancer Now as part of their Younger Women Together programme, drawing on her experience as a couple therapist to facilitate groups on relationships and communication.
