CICS Advanced Diploma in Psychosexual & Relationship Psychotherapy

The CICS one-year part time Advanced Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Psychotherapy comprises Year 4 of the CICS qualifying pathway.

This course combines a focus on contemporary research with the development of advanced clinical practice to deepen and broaden your knowledge and skills in the work of psychosexual and relationship psychotherapy.

Completion of our Advanced Diploma provides a pathway to COSRT Accreditation and UKCP Registration via COSRT. To be eligible for this pathway you will need to be two years post COSRT Registration when you apply for our Advanced Diploma and 3 years post COSRT Registration on completion.

CICS are excited to confirm that we are in the process of applying to become a UKCP Training and Accrediting Organisational Member. This is a comprehensive and exacting process that we are fully committed to successfully completing. Confirmation of our acceptance as a UKCP OM is contingent on our Advanced Diploma first cohort running and our full qualifying pathway being assessed as meeting UKCP criteria. Once we have secured our UKCP OM status we will be able to provide a direct pathway to UKCP Registration for our students.

Commencing on 3rd March 2025 we will be meeting weekly online via Zoom on Monday evenings, 6.30pm-8.30pm and our studies will cover:-

Psychotherapy Research

• How to read, understand and critically evaluate research in relation to psychotherapy
• Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods
• Case Study Research
• Carrying out Ethical Research
• Conducting a Literature Review
• Writing a Research Proposal
• Writing a Master’s Level Dissertation

Group and individual research supervision is provided as part of the course.

Advanced Clinical Practice

• Advancing anti-oppressive psychosexual and relationship therapy practice.
• Working with complex biological presentations in psychosexual and relationship therapy.
• Advanced approaches to working with gender, sexuality and relationship diversities in psychosexual and relationship therapy.
• Compulsive sexual behaviour and Intimate Partner Therapy.
• Working with complex trauma in psychosexual and relationship therapy.
• Advanced conflict resolution in Intimate Partner Therapy.

Group clinical supervision is provided as part of the course.

• 2,500 word Literature Review
• 4,500 word Research Proposal
• Ethical Approval Application
• 10,000 word Case Study Research Dissertation
• 150 hour Clinical Practice Reflection Submission
• 150 hour Supervision Report
• 300 hour Clinical Practice Reflection Submission
• Final Supervision Report

Completion Criteria

• 300 clinical practice hours in psychosexual and relationship psychotherapy (in addition to 150 qualifying hours) supervised at a 1:6 ratio.
• 30 hours personal therapy (in addition to 50 qualifying hours).

Eligibility

To apply for our Advanced Diploma, you must be a COSRT Registered Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist.

Fees

CICS Graduates: £1,800 payable in 12 x £150 monthly payments.

Non-CICS Graduates: £2,200: £200 deposit plus 10 x £200 monthly payments.
