Lead Tutor Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy

Meryem (May) Adem has been a practicing Integrative Psychotherapist since 2012. She holds professional memberships with HCPC, COSRT and is a accredited member with BACP.

Meryem was inspired to train as a creative psychotherapist after completing her jewellery degree and working in the industry  alongside her work as a Drugs Educator for Haringey council. Through the combination of these roles Meryem noticed a connection between creative expression and psychology, prompting her to look into Art Therapy. Meryem completed her MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy in 2012 with the Institutes of Arts and Therapy in Education (IATE). In her training she learnt various creative therapies such as dramatherapy, art, sandtray , play therapy to name a few, alongside  the various therapeutic modalities and theories enabling her to adapt her clinical work to the individual needs of her clients.

After completing her MA, Meryem worked within the education and charity sector  prior to expanding  her private practice full time in 2021. In her previous roles she set up and managed school counselling services across London as a School Counselling Service Manager, which provided her the privilege of working with counsellors and therapists from various creative and specialist modalities.

Meryem completed her Clinical Sexology diploma in 2022 with CICS and qualified as a Clinical Supervisor in 2023. Meryem works with individuals and intimate partners  within her private practice and although she has experience working with Young People she now only works with adults and provides supervision to qualified and trainee therapists.

Meryem’s passion for being creative is active and she is currently doing a part time tattoo apprenticeship alongside her private practice and teaching with CICS.
